Everybody Wants to Hear What’s Already Been Told is a video installation that collects several of my previous projects which studies the “trash aesthetics” in contemporary China. By appropriating and deconstructing visual elements selected from low culture phenomena such as street publication, Chinatown commodity, collectivist corporate training routine, funeral rituals, and “dust taste” social media video app, the video celebrates and critiques the fetishism manifested in such unique aesthetics.
